How can I get a duplicate license

The fee for replacing a lost license is $25.00.

If your license is one of the new photo-image styles (pictured below), you may order a duplicate from the RMV Website or by calling the Telephone Center.

You must have a MasterCard, Visa or Discover to complete this transaction via the Website or the Telephone Center.

If you do not have a credit card, you must go to a Full Service office to obtain your duplicate license.]

This process should take you about 5-10 minutes to complete. Once you have confirmed your information, it is saved and you may come back to it at any time.

To begin, you will need to enter your name, date of birth, and Social Security number. 

If you are eligible to get a duplicate online, you will be asked a few more questions, pay the required fee (we accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express) and you’re done. Your license will be mailed to you in 7-10 business days. It’s as easy as that!

If you are not eligible to get a duplicate online, you will be asked a few more questions and be able to download and print your completed application and list of required documents. Sign the application and visit any RMV branch.

If you have outstanding obligations, you will be given a list of what the obligations are and how to resolve them prior to visiting the branch to complete your transaction.
