Approximately 2 months before your driver license is due to expire, you will be sent a reminder notice in the mail.

This reminder will include instructions on how to renew your driver

license. If you are away from New Hampshire and cannot return before

your license expires, you must notify us in writing.

You will not get your renewal reminder if you have changed your

address and did not tell the Division of Motor Vehicles of the change,

or if your driver license is under revocation or suspension.

Renewal of your driver license is your responsibility. If you do not get

a renewal reminder in the mail, you should go to any licensing office of

the Division of Motor Vehicles to begin the process of renewing your

driver license.

New Hampshire residents who hold a New Hampshire driver license

and are on active duty in the Armed Forces for 2 or more years may renew

his/her driver license free of charge. An affidavit signed by a commissioned officer stating the date of the end of your active duty must be sent

along with your application.

Affidavit forms are available at any Division of Motor Vehicles licensing

location and online at www.nh.gov/dmv.

To process your driver license renewal, the following is necessary:

You must be the person named on the Driver License Renewal Notice.
Have the Driver License Renewal Notice with the Renewal Identification Number (RIN) printed on it.
Have your current driver license.
Have a printer.
Have one of the following valid credit cards for payment:
- MasterCard or Visa.

Steps involved in renewing your driver license online:

Enter your name as it appears on your current license, enter your Driver License Number, and enter the issue date of your current license.
Enter your RIN (Renewal Identification Number).
Read and acknowledge the statements.
Please consider giving the "Gift of Life".
Select the payment option and enter the payment information.
PRINT your temporary license.
