how do i sign up for a permit test in sc online

South Carolina allows drivers who have never possessed a drivers license or future drivers under the age of eighteen to apply for a learner permit. South Carolina refers to this as a Beginner’s Permit, and has a specific program for teenagers called the Rookie Driver / Graduated Licensing system. Let’s go over a few of the requirements in order to apply for the permit.

You must be at least 15 years of age. Like all applications for a new drivers license, you must show the proper form of identification. This includes your certificate of birth, social security number , state of SC residency information and your auto insurance. Every driver under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their legal guardian because they will need to approve and sign your application. You will also need to successfully pass the vision test and knowledge test. Finally, you need to show proof that you’ve completed a driver education course.

Every learners permit is accompanied by certain restrictions, and South Carolina is no different. You are only allowed to drive from 6am to 12 (midnight) and you must be accompanied by a person with a valid license who is at least 21 years of age. This person must be in the front passenger seat. If you need to drive at night between midnight and 6am , your licensed guardian must be with you in the front seat.
