How to Replace Your Lost Mississippi Drivers License

You can replace your Mississippi Drivers license using any one of the following methods:

  1. In person at a local driver license office.
  2. Online at https://www.ms.gov/dps/license_renewal/Duplicate.
  3. By phone.

Steps

  1. Prepare to bring documents which show proof of identity and proof of residence.  (read section below for a more detailed list)
  2. Take a look at the local driver license office page to find your closest Driver License office.
  3. You will need to pay a replacement fee. The current cost is $11.00.
  4. After completing the above steps, you will be given a new duplicate license.

Online

To have a duplicate replacement license processed online in Mississippi, you must meet the following requirements:

Requirements to Replace Lost License Online

  • You must have a valid and current Drivers License or ID. You must know your DL number.
  • Your photograph must be on file. If not, you will be required to go in person.
  • You must have a social security number.
  • You must have a credit card to make payment online (visa, mastercard, discover and american express). Can be debit or credit cards.

Steps

  • Please use your internet browser to visit the following Web Page
  • In order to access the online system, you will be required to enter the following pieces of personal information:
    1. Mississippi driver's license number or ID number.  
    2. The last 4 digits of SSN.
    3. Your date of birth
    4. Your first name, last name and middle name.
    5. Pay the replacement fee
    6. Once a succesful online trasaction has been confirmed and completed, a confirmation number will be sent to the email address that you provided during the renewal process.
    7. The above confirmation number is very important to have. DPS uses the confirmation number to track your payment online via its Payment Tracker system.
    8. It is beneficial and handy that you print the email that you receive and keep it for your records.
    9. This email will be sent no later than one (1) hour after your renewal was made.
    10. Note: Your duplicate replacement license will sent via mail and will arrive  in no more than ten (10) business days.

You must pay the fee for a replacement license which is currently $11.00.

Documents needed 

Two forms of ID are required and must be shown when you arrive at the Driver's License office to have your license address changed:

Primary Documents (either 2 of the following) OR 1 one of the following, and 1 Secondary document below

  • Current License which has not been expired for more than six (6) months.
  • Current Learners Permit which has not been expired for more than six (6) months.
  • Social Security Card
  • Marriage Certificate
  • Birth Certificate
  • Your MS ID Card
  • INS Documents
  • Military ID
  • Court Order Documents
  • Either USA Or Canadian Passport

Secondary Documents

  • Proof of Residency - It must display your address and name.
  • Utility Bill such as light, gas, water or cable bill.
  • Pay check stub. This must have your address in addition to your name and social security number.
  • Your renters / lease agreement. 
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs Card/Indian Treaty Card. Tribal ID card is NOT acceptable.
