In Person

  1. Gather your documents which prove your identity and legal residence in this country (see below for the list of required documents).
  2. Prepare to visit any Texas driver license office.
  3. Lookup the latest fees, and bring your payment.
  4. You should fill out the replacement DL-43 application form beforehand, and bring it along with you.

Stolen Texas Drivers License

Immediately after you notice that your license has been stolen, you must visit your nearest police station and file a report. You will need a police report number, or evidence that’s it’s been unlawfully used, in order to receive a new license with a new identification number. Make sure to write down the names and phone number of every person that has helped you.

Your next step is to visit any local Texas driver license office and apply for the issuance of a new drivers license number. The DPS will review your case (along with your documentation) and decide on whether to issue a new license number. The decision is solely in the hands of the Texas DPS.

The Texas Department of Public Safely (DPS) has created a valuable document titled  Identity Theft Information Guide which will help you in the event that you’ve been a victim of Identity Theft. It contains valuable information on who to contact.
